Commentary

Please be sure to note that I have posted the commentary for June 2nd about 9 hours early so that you don't get messed up looking for the 5-26 commentary which is located below or by link on this page!

Not everyone who is called gets a calling such as the one that is in sight today when Isaiah received his and witnessed God’s throne room first hand.  But every one of us has received the calling as Christians to share the gospel using the gifts provided to us through the Holy Spirit to better enable the process.
Most Christians act as if only those called to preach are receiving a calling and I think the church in general has hijacked the term to mean that almost exclusively.  What needs to be stressed to the new Christian and reminded to the old Christian, is that is not the case and to use the words of the old song that “we’ve a story to tell to the nations.”  Whether they do it through words or deeds again depending on your gifts does not matter what matters is that it is done.
Remember the words from 2 Peter 3 last week that God is being patient with us not wanting anyone to perish.  We don’t need to have our own vision of the throne room to enthusiastically say as Isaiah did, “Here am I.  Send me!”  The reason is because we had Jesus tell us this is what we needed to do.
Isaiah’s account, as with most scripture, serves as an example, this time of how best to react to our calling from God.
