Worship and Respond aka Holy, Holy, Holy
Isaiah 6:1-8
International Sunday School Lesson
June 2, 2013
Most Christians act as if only those called to preach are receiving a calling and I think the church in general has hijacked the term to mean that almost exclusively. What needs to be stressed to the new Christian and reminded to the old Christian, is that is not the case and to use the words of the old song that “we’ve a story to tell to the nations.” Whether they do it through words or deeds again depending on your gifts does not matter what matters is that it is done.
Remember the words from 2 Peter 3 last week that God is being patient with us not wanting anyone to perish. We don’t need to have our own vision of the throne room to enthusiastically say as Isaiah did, “Here am I. Send me!” The reason is because we had Jesus tell us this is what we needed to do.
Isaiah’s account, as with most scripture, serves as an example, this time of how best to react to our calling from God.
For Discussion:
1. I wrote previously in this blog concerning the throne room. Please visit the commentary found on this blog for 5-8-11.
2. Discuss how Isaiah must have felt
3. Discuss your calling
4. Discuss seraphs
5. Discuss what Isaiah says about himself in verse 5
6. Discuss the ways your church might impress upon its members that they all are called
